Classix and the French Institute of Romania in Iași are joining forces to celebrate Fête de la Musique, the international music festival held annually on June 21st in over 120 countries around the world. French pianist Jean-Baptiste Doulcet returns to Iași for an exceptional solo recital on the longest day of the year. At just 30 years old, Jean-Baptiste is already recognized across Europe as one of the most authentic voices of the new generation of musicians: a virtuoso pianist, composer, and improviser. This evening, the artist presents a program centered on memory, poetry, and transcendence—from Satie’s dreamlike pieces to the passionate outbursts of Chopin—completed by a tribute to the Romanian-French composer Marius Constant, in the centenary year of his birth. To conclude, Jean-Baptiste will set aside the score and improvise on Romanian themes—a spontaneous arc elevated to the level of a second opus, following the remarkable success of his performance at the 2024 edition of the festival.
