LAB 2024
Classix Lab is a new initiative promoting classical music among young people, bringing together music enthusiasts and artists in an inspiring environment. Held in Iași, Suceava, and Vatra Dornei between July 26 and August 1, 2024, the project featured 12 national and international artists and included workshops, masterclasses, panels, and concerts in unique indoor and outdoor venues, offering emerging artists the opportunity to perform alongside internationally renowned artists.
More than 2,000 spectators attended the 5 concerts and 3 panels, while 40 amateur musicians and music enthusiasts participated in the recorder workshop, and 30 young artists took part in 25 masterclass sessions.
The concert programme represents a journey through time, beginning with the Baroque period and reaching the contemporary era. Among the highlights is the presence of Danish artist Michala Petri, renowned for her contribution to promoting the recorder worldwide. World accordion champion Radu Rățoi and flautist Ștefan Diaconu will perform music by Bach, Piazzolla, Bartók, Grieg, and Kosori, while pianists Dragoș Andrei Cantea and Grace Jee Eun Oh will explore the intersection of classical music and jazz through two-piano performances of works by Bernstein and Gershwin.
