Amphitrio (RO)
Concert:
Amphitrio is a contemporary jazz project initiated in 2023, featuring pianist and composer Andrei Petrache, bassist Mike Alex, and percussionist Philip Goron, all musicians with a solid foundation in classical and alternative music.
Amphitrio’s repertoire consists of original pieces written by Andrei Petrache, situated within the realm of modern jazz and infused with influences from contemporary Nordic jazz and Balkan Oriental colours, as well as elements of heavy rock and electronic music. With the release of their two debut albums, Points and Seasons (2023), Amphitrio began exploring a wider range of electro-groove subgenres, continuing to expand their creative horizon. With the launch of their third album, Timelines (2024), the trio further broadened its stylistic range.
To date, the trio has performed more than 100 public concerts. They have appeared at renowned festivals such as Jazzahead! (Bremen, 2025), Un Weekend à l’Est (Paris, 2025), Shkodra Jazz Festival (2025), Baku Jazz Festival (2024), JazzFest Budapest (2025), Jazz in the Park (2023, 2024, 2025), Gărâna Jazz Festival (2024), JazzX (2023, 2025), Sepsi Jazz&Blues Festival (2024), Oradea Festifall (2023), JazzCave (2023, 2024), Waha Festival (2024), Jazz On The Rooftop(2024), and Vadoo Fest (2024), alongside dozens of other jazz concerts in Bucharest and across Romania. Amphitrio has also expanded its international presence through tours across Europe and Asia, as well as through an independently organised tour in the United States.
Among the trio’s achievements are the UCIMR Award in the Jazz Ensemble category (2025), the Romania Cultural Radio Award in the Music category for the album Timelines (2025), the Best Composition Award at the Jazz in the Park Competition (2023), and the Distinction Award from Jazz Compas Magazine (2026).
