Classix Festival is an international, independent festival held in Iași, which redefines the concert experience through interdisciplinarity and adapts it to the contemporary audience. It encourages dialogue, repositions classical music from the world of elites and brings it closer to the curious, passionate and explorers, with the help of new technologies and new media arts.
The purpose of the festival is to stimulate a new generation to broaden their intellectual interests, as well as the cultural revitalization of the city.
Illustrated themes include both national and European traditions, determining the promotion of cultural diversity and native heritage at an international level.
The concert repertoire is well-known and well-discovered: the festival program aims to familiarize its audience with works, compositions and artists that do not benefit the spotlight in the program of the country’s philharmonics.
The particularity and uniqueness of the events consists in opening the arts to the general public, through a modern approach, hence the slogan, a contemporary classic affair.
With its debut in February 2020 and despite the pandemic context, the festival has grown year by year, and in the 5 editions held so far, Classix has gathered over 250 national and international artists, in 37 concerts held in emblematic locations of Iași and an audience of over 20,000 spectators in the venues and 250,000 online.
Along with the concert sphere, the festival was also distinguished by numerous related projects and activities, represented by the Classix in Focus series of events, which included 17 panels from the academic, cultural and entrepreneurial area, 3 lectures, 3 vernissages, 5 exhibitions, 2 flash mobs, 3 showcases, a book launch, 9 film screenings, 1 short film marathon, 4 guided tours, a music workshop.
At the same time, the festival also developed the Classix in art fund – a program of masterclasses in music and creative scholarships offered in the field of music, visual arts, performing arts and cultural interventions that support young Romanian and foreign artists with promising careers.
Classix in art offered 15 national scholarships in the amount of 15,000 euros and 149 masterclass sessions.
