A Western–Eastern Dream: QAYEQ opens the new Classix Concerts season

An adventure between tradition and contemporaneity, in Iași and Bucharest.
The Classix Concerts series returns this autumn with a sonic journey between tradition and improvisation, signed by the young Iranian artist Avin Ahmadi (IR/AT).
A Vienna-based musician, oud performer, composer, and vocalist, Avin presents in Romania the project “A Western–Eastern Dream: QAYEQ”, a recital that explores the connection between Persian culture and contemporary musical expression.
The tour will debut on October 16, 2025, at MINA Museum Bucharest, the first immersive museum in Romania, and will continue on October 17 in Iași, at the “Mihai Eminescu” Central University Library Aula, one of the most elegant and historically rich concert halls in the country.
The project “Qayeq” — a Persian term meaning “raft” — symbolizes a poetic crossing between East and West, a path of emotion, freedom, and introspection. In this sonic endeavor, each composition becomes a drifting movement among waves of sound and silence, between memory and discovery.
The program includes works composed by Avin Ahmadi: The edges, Fowj fowj, Dopelk, Fairy, May, Horses, and a piece of Improvisation, each marking a distinct stage in exploring the dialogue between the two worlds.
In Bucharest, the concert will go beyond the boundaries of music and transform into a complex sensory experience. Within MINA Museum, video projections and light design will amplify the intensity and delicacy of each musical moment, while the museum’s architecture will become a living part of the performance. In Iași, the recital will bring the same sonic adventure into a symbolic setting of Romanian culture — the “Mihai Eminescu” Central University Library Aula, where acoustics, light, and solemn atmosphere will create a space of genuine reflection and emotion.
Born in Tehran in 2004, Avin Ahmadi belongs to a new generation of artists redefining the musical language through the fusion of tradition and contemporary freedom of expression.
Through her creations, she transforms the concert into a space of poetry and authenticity, where individual sensitivity becomes a bridge between worlds. From her Persian roots to her Viennese influences, Avin’s artistic journey speaks of courage, vulnerability, and the desire to build cultural connections through music.
The two concerts, A Western–Eastern Dream: QAYEQ, are organized by Asociația Industrii Creative and Showberry, in partnership with the Austrian Cultural Forum Bucharest and with the support of DAC Music Performance.
